Elmer the Emergency Elk
We all know how stressful an emergency situation can be for adults but it is even worse for children.  That is why our lodge supplies the Whiting Police and Ambulance Crews with a hearty supply of our  stuffed animal named Elmer the Elk.  Elmer is there to comfort a child in any traumatic situation.    If you would like more information on our Elmer the Elk program, contact Ed Boyle at 219-659-4013.

Hospital "Coloring Book and Crayons" Program
Our lodge supplies coloring books, puzzle books, and crayons to pediatric units at St. Catherine's, St. Margaret's, and Munster Community Hospitals.  

Student of the Month
Our lodge honors local students who were selected, by their teacher, as Students of the Month.  These students and their families are invited to the lodge for a complimentary spaghetti dinner.  After dinner our lodge presents each student with a framed, Grand Lodge, certificate.

 Sponsorships
The Whiting Elks Lodge 1273 is home to Boy Scout Troop #204.  The troop meets every Wednesday at the lodge and has produced many Eagle Scouts.    Our lodge is also one of the oldest sponsors of a Whiting little league team. 

Veterans Program
In conjunction with the Northwest District, our lodge makes three to four visits a year to the Old Veterans Home and Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana.  Together the lodges host a cookout and BINGO games for the veterans.  We also donate toiletries, clothes, books, puzzles and playing cards.
